Initial Consultation
You journey with Elite Surgery Abroad begins with a no cost, no obligation, video consultation with our UK based patient support team. During this call, we will:
- Review your medical history and current symptoms
- Explain the recommended treatment pathway
- Discuss potential benefits and risks
- Answer any questions about travel, accommodation, or practical arrangements
- Confirm whether you are suitable to move forward to a surgical consultation
This discussion is for informational purposes only and does not represent medical advice from the operating surgeon.
Virtual Consultation with your Surgeon
You will then have a virtual consultation with the operating surgeon in France. During this appointment:
- Your medical history and imaging will be reviewed
- The surgeon will explain the proposed procedure
- Expected benefits, possible risks, potential complications, and alternative treatments (including non-surgical options) will be discussed
- You will have the opportunity to ask detailed medical questions
If appropriate, a provisional surgery date may be offered. You are under no obligation to proceed.
Informed Consent and Cooling Off Period
After your consultation, you will receive a service agreement and a copy of our Terms and Conditions.
You will have a 14 day cooling off period in line with UK consumer regulations, unless you choose to proceed sooner.
We strongly encourage you to take sufficient time to consider your decision and, if appropriate, discuss it with your GP or family.
Travel and Treatment Coordination
If you decide to proceed, we will arrange:
- Airport or train station transfers in France
- Private accommodation including all meals for you and your travel companion
- Hospital registration
- Pre-operative assessment appointments
- Post-operative physiotherapy at your residence
- Nursing support at your residence
Elite Surgery Abroad acts as a medical facilitator. The surgery itself is carried out by an independent private healthcare provider in France.
Pre-Operative assessment
Before surgery, you will attend the hospital for:
- An X-ray, ECG and any other required pre surgery tests
- An in-person consultation with the surgeon
- An in-person consultation with the anaesthetist
- Pre-operative blood tests
Surgery will only proceed if the assessment confirms it is appropriate and safe to do so.
Surgery and In-patient Care
You will be admitted to a private hospital room. The length of stay depends on your recovery and clinical progress but is typically at least three days.
Physiotherapy will begin under clinical supervision as appropriate.
If requested, we can arrange for your travel companion to stay with you in the hospital.
Post-Operative Rehabilitation
After discharge from the clinic, your physiotherapy will continue at your residence for the number of days defined by your individual recovery plan.
Follow Up and Aftercare
You will receive structured remote follow-up care for six months:
- Weekly GP follow-up during the first month
- Monthly GP follow-up thereafter for another five months
You are also advised to remain in contact with your UK GP to ensure continuity of care.

Transport and Logistics
Airport or train station transfers and all travel between the residence and hospital are fully included in your package.
You will be welcomed at the airport or train station by a personal driver holding a tablet with your name. Our professional team of three dedicated drivers ensures your comfort, safety, and seamless transportation throughout your stay.
Should you choose to drive to Amiens, there is free parking at the clinic and the residence.

I first got in touch with ESA on 7th May ’25. 3rd June I was in Amiens for assessment and 6th June I had a total hip replacement.
